CNET is reporting that intel has released a new 6 core chip, designed for high performance servers. The Xeon 7400 is one of Intels first chips to have multiple cores on a single pieces of silicon, prior to this all Intel chips with more than 2 cores had separate pieces of silicon. The Intel Dunnington chip has 6 cores and 16MB cache.
So who do you find to be the most annoying fanboys and why?
Well People have seen the lenovo Ideapad S10 While it’s been Making the rounds at tech and Gadget shows, etc. People have been impressed it’s a Nice looking netbook and quite high quality, here is and excerpt from the Article;
I first saw the S10 the other day during the Intel Atom launch and it really grabbed my attention away from the other netbooks on display. It simply looked gorgeous and I was glad that I get to see more if it yesterday.

Right so we were so right about every detail of the Mini Insprion. We said nothing about it coming with a WWAN / 3G modem but we were wrong it does come with 3G. A lot of people seem to have been disappointed with the price of the Mini Inspiron as the base model was expected to cost $299 but actually costs $399. Here is what you get a various price points;
Dell Mini Inspiron Standard Edition
$349
Dell Mini Inspiron Social Edition
$399
Dell Mini Inspiron XP Edition
$449
Of course their is news that this netbook will be subsidised if you go with a contract fromVodafone. So will we see hip youngsters carrying this machine, no but Geeks and nerds maybe. This machine is up on dells websites now if you are interested. Thanks to Bill who E-Mailed us this story.
Well The new advert that Microsoft is doing as an answer to the mac v pc adverts is out and it is rather an odd advert. At the moment at least, it does not make much sense to me. The way I see it is that most people have no choice but to use Microsoft Windows and those that have a choice, either use windows anyway or choose something else. If they use something else they have a good reason for it and if they use windows they have a good reason for it, maybe for gaming, work or whatever. So my question is why does Microsoft need to advertise given that those using other operating systems are unlikely to change to windows and the rest are already using windows anyway for one reason or another?
Now I don’t use windows myself but from where I’m standing It looks to me that windows is suffering on the Netbook platforms, they should be looking to do something in that market and with the Chinese coming out with new processor architectures for these machines which only support Linux, microsoft should be slightly worried. Who’s going to buy a microsoft netbook for $300 when they can get a linux one with firefox and openoffice for $50? X86 processors aren’t looking to have a great future on low cost Netbooks but dragon processors which are much cheaper might just have a chance. Anyway without further ado here is the advert;
Hewlett-Packard has recently placed orders for VIA Nano CPUs and VIA have already started shipping. It is not known whether HP will use the CPUs in it’s notebooks or netbook series. VIA has said that in addition to previous orders from Chinese companies , the company also has orders from a notebook manufacturer and the product will appear in the market by October this year. As for VIA’s C7-M processor used in HP’s 2133 Mini-Note PC, the total volume that HP has ordered is a little over 500,000, which shows that HP expects to ship at least half a million 2133 Mini-Note PCs by the end of this year.
AMD has announced 4 new processors based on existing architectures aimed at the desktop market. They have been streamlined for stability and longevity, improved efficiency and energy savings. These processors are; 2400 MHz Phenom X4 9750B Quad-Core, 2400 MHz Phenom X3 8750B Triple-Core, 2.9-GHz Athlon X2 5600B Dual-Core and 2500 MHz Athlon X2 4850B Dual-Core, There was not any word on the price or when these new processors will start shipping, By introducing new processors to the desktop market, AMD hope get some of their customer base back from Intel.
Thanks to leaked presentation slides we now have details on some 8 core CPUs being developed by Intel. Intels Development Model shows that both the Westmere and Sandy Bridge line of processors will be fabricated with 32 nanometer technology in 2009 and 2010. We can expect the Ivy Bridge and Haswell 22 nanometer processors to surface between 2011 and 2012. The Sandy Bridge architecture will double the number of cores per die to eight! While a new instruction set called the Advanced Vector Extensions or AVX for short, will likely get most of the attention.
