Mobile Whack Has an Interesting article about the 2nd quarter results of mobile phone sales. Turns out that blackberries RIM Operating system has beaten windows mobile operating system as far as market share is concerned. Blackberry have doubled their market share inside of a year but more impressively the iPhones operating system has trebled it’s market Share within the same amount of time. The biggest looser seems to be Symbian which has lost about 10% from 65.6% to 57.1%.

Tesco is soon to add mobile VoIP to their list of services making them a more attractive supplier of mobile service, Currently only a few providers offer this service and it has been very successful as it attracts people with the promise of cheap and sometime even free phone calls. The service, provided in partnership with Freshtel, can be downloaded to N95,N81,E65 and E51 handsets, and should be available on other models by the end of next year. This service relies on access to open wireless networks and is very cheap. It would cost just 1.5p per minute to call a contact in Australia, and calls to other TalkWifi customers are free of charge, even international calls.
