Packard bell has recently announced that it is releasing a netbook to be be called the packard bell dot, The net book is expected to have much that same specifications as the many other netbooks such as the eeepc, msi wind, hp mininote and the dell mini inspiron 9. It’s likely to be powered by an intel atom cpu, but other details are sketchy at best, so watch out for updates on this one. This shoulb be interesting as packard bell has also recently annouced that they are looking to get a new slick image like Apple has, maybe this Netbook is part of that?
Laptop Mag has an interesting article on the approach of sony to the already very crowded Netbook market. While sony has produced UMPCs in the past they have always been far too expensive to be classed as netbooks, but now it looks like sony is entering the ‘race to the bottom’ along with other manufacturers. I didn’t say anything about them being hypocrites.
Wow now thats cheap, this little machine is based on an ARM processor. It’s not that bad of a device. It has a word processor, spreadsheets, e-mail, instant messaging and all the basics. Install Opera on there and you even get a half way decent browser experience. It also runs on Windows CE which gives the option of a lot of other extra applications such as; Google maps, Putty and yes even Doom. The major disadvantage that it has is the 7 inch 480 x 272 resolution display, but I still think this could make an awesome emulator machine.

The Dell Mini Inspiron 9 has just started to ship and some folks have already started to review it. It’s been getting very good reviews.

Well if you are interested in installing OS X on the acer aspire one, you aren’t the first. It has already been done and you can view The boot times and application start time in the following video. It seems that it actually runs quite well with a nice boot time for an operating system not supposed to be run on non mac hardware.

Toshiba has just entered the Netbook market with it’s new offering, the yet to be named Toshiba Netbook. As you would have come to expect by now this Netbook does not differ much from offerings that other companies have put out, we can expect the specifications to be as follows;

The Netbook is called the HiVision miniNote. It has the following features
As for what it costs, Well it’s $98, I will definitely get one just because of how cheap it is.
