Well maybe that headline is a bit sensational and no I don’t think this machine will end all life as we know it but today they will begin commissioning the Hadron Collider. The Hadron Collider is the largest particle accelerator ever created and many people seem to have the unfounded belief that the machine will tear apart the very fabric of the universe. Some of these people feel so strongly about this that they have actually threaded the engineers and scientists behind the Hadron Collider project. So what are they doing today, well from what I understand they are doing a clockwise rotation test on one of the two parts of the machine, so basically they have tested out all the circuits and are now beginning the live testing phase of commissioning this colossal machine.
